January 28, 1986...7 brave explorer souls made the ultimate sacrifice and were lost in one brief, horrible moment that is difficult to forget, and for me, still difficult to watch on TV after all these years.

Let's remember their sacrifice today, and for goodness sake, let's get ourselves back into space!

I remember it.  I actually saw it on TV.  But it was unreal.  I could not accept it at first.  Denial I guess.

It is hauntingly sad how excited and happy they all look in that picture.

I dunno...one of the reasons the Challenger disaster actually INCREASED my love for aviation was that i could see no better way to die than doing what you loved the most...

I remember too. I stayed home from school that day sick... and was watching live when it happened. I didn't comprehend it all then, but when the Columbia shuttle blew apart over Texas, I cried for days... and remembered Challenger as well.

My dad had been nominated as a teacher to go on that trip. Wow.
